Welcome to Cortland Mental Health Association
Mental illness affects one in four American families.
An estimated 27 million adults and 7.5 million children and youth in our nation have been diagnosed with a mental illness, outnumbering those with cancer, heart, and lung disease combined.
Despite an encouraging rate of success in treating those with mental illnesses, only one in five people actually seek professional help for mental or emotional problems. Often they lack information to help them recognize and understand the signs and symptoms of mental illness and are unaware and confused about available treatment.
The Mental Health Association (MHA) of Cortland County is a private, non-profit organization, affiliated with the New York State and National Mental Health Associations. Our organization is dedicated to enhancing the lives of all Cortland County residents by improving their mental health and emotional well-being.
Under the leadership of a volunteer Board of Directors, our mission is achieved through advocacy services, educational presentations, prevention programs, and information and resource referrals. |
